seeking safe, inexpensive seat

Hi,

We are seeking a safe but inexpensive forward-facing seat for our 4-year-old, and we would be grateful for any advice.

My husband and I already have a Graco and a Britax in our cars for our 4-year-old, who is just under 40 pounds. We need a car seat for our babysitter to keep in her car, since she brings our son home from day care once a week and we'd like her to keep the seat in her car.

Is there a seat that is safe and relatively easy to install, but not too expensive?

Thanks!

Welcome!

What seat is she using for your son and what is his age/weight? I'm wondering just in case he could pass his seat down.

Some good combination seats that are on the lower end of the price range are the Evenflo Maestro around $100, but rated only to 50 lbs. The evenflo Secure Ride 300/400 is another option, about the same as the Maestro but rate to 65 lbs and is a little more price wise. I have the 400 and like it. It's an easy install where ever I've installed it so far. THe Graco Nautilus is well liked and can be found for around $130ish I'd say. Also the Harmony Defender is a lower priced seat but it sounds like it can be hard to find right now for some reason. All of these have nice high top harness slots that will take your daughter to a good booster age of around 5 - 6.
