Versa Note/Matrix/Other?

DH's car keeps breaking down and I'm getting sick of fixing it. He rented a Nissan Versa Note a while back and reallly liked it. One of my "cons" is that there is no headrest in the center of the backseat. We have three kids. At some point, they'll be too big for seats with backs. I don't want to keep buying new cars every couple years.

Does anyone have any experience with the Nissan Versa Note or the Toyota Matrix or any similiar hatchback? I have three kids who ride with Daddy daily: two in boosters and a harnessed FF 4yo. (Daddy has an Aveo now and my plan was to keep the 4yo harnessed in her Radian in that car for as long as I can, hopefully until I have one who can 5 step somewhere in the vehicle.) Any info you can add to this decision?

We would probably buy a couple years used...2010-2011ish range.

We have a 2009 matrix and although we love it, I don't know how we will fit 3 across if we have a third.

The radian fits well in the middle rf or ff, but you need the AA. The seatbelts kind of overlap, but I can manage 2 cs and an average adult back there. It might works, but you would need narrow boosters.

Oh! I forget to mention that the outboard seatbelts come in a weird angle. The belt couldn't retract freely in the PWSGL at the lowest setting. I haven't try any other booster.

The kia soul, if you like the look, has a pretty big backseat. I've seen a lot of 3across in this car!

Thanks! We already have some of the narrowest seats - my husband insists on driving clown cars. :p

His car ended up being covered under warranty this time around, but I'm keeping my eyes open for next time.
