Question Second car and new convertible seat (Canada)

I could use some help with buying a new convertible carseat and car. I have a 3 year old (29 lbs. 25% for weight, 50% for height) in a Diono Radian RXT rear facing. And a 7 month old (18 lbs, 85% for weight, 50% for height) in Peg Perego Primo Viaggio SIP (which she will be coming out of very shortly as she is looking uncomfortable).

I was planning to buy another Diono Radian RXT but we are also going to be buying a second car shortly which will be a lot smaller and used primarily for commuting- maybe a jetta or nissan altima or prius v. Our primary family car is a Mazda 5. The second car will rarely be used for transporting the kids, but I would like the ability to do so.

Suggestions for a convertible car seat? Any experience with the specific cars mentioned or other suggestions for a gas efficient commuter car. We are planning to keep both kids rear facing as long as possible (4-5 years old).

Welcome!

You might look at the Graco MySize70's, a lot of people have great luck fitting them in a variety of cars and the rearfacing capabilites are remarkable for a lower priced seat. The Evenflo SureRide is another good choice, though I believe there's a standing height limit of 40 inches for rearfacing (that's a very tall 3 year old, but more often a 4 yo..the seat has very deep sides and I would not feel at all squeamish going FF at 40 inches in a modern car with good rear seat safety ratings..and believe me, I'm a nervous mama )

Unfortunately, we don't have the My size yet in Canada. The radian is still the best option for extended rear facing. The foonf is another good option, but it's pricier.
