Two Roundabouts next to each other?

We carpooled yesterday with friends in a 06 Highlander and are going to do it again today. They have a FF Roundabout installed by LATCH in the passenger outboard position. I wanted to install our RF Roundabout in the center but couldn't get it to fit. Is this not ever possible? I'm curious b/c as I am shopping I have a RAV-4 on my list and I was hoping to someday have seats in the center and passenger outboard position so an adult could still us the drivers outboard position. Would this be possible with any seat combination?

Were you trying to use LATCH in the center or the seatbelt? You can't use the LATCH in the center if it doesn't have it's own( not sure if it does) so you would need to use the seatbelt method. (Toyota doesn't allow for Center LATCH installs)

I'm not sure which method you tried, but I don't know why it wouldn't have fit. If it were me, I would have used the seatbelt method for both installs because LATCH installs generally push carseats towards the center and make for not great installs when trying to fit multiple seats depending on the car.

I would have used the seatbelt for the center install b/c there was no center LATCH. The passengers outboard seat was already installed using LATCH though.

Good to know! Thanks! But you don't think it would be impossible to get these two seats next to each other?

Nope I don't think it's impossible. Generally the lower anchors outboard push the seat in the middle of the seating position and that takes up a lot of room. Where as when you use the seatbelt you have a lot more play on where you can position the carseat and how you can positon another seat next to it.

I have a friend who has a Highlander (2002??) with a RF DC installed in the center with the seatbelt. I was able to put DDs RF MA outboard driver side with LATCH with no problem. They were barely touching and it didn't even hit the door when the door was closed.
