Question Need recommendation for HBB

Hi,
I am searching for our last car seat for my 4.5 yo twins. They are still using a Britax Marathon and I know it will still last for awhile. They are only 33 and 36 lbs. I am not looking to switch them out of the convertible as this is the primary car that I drive and most of the time they will be in. But I need to get a HBB because I will need to occasionally use in another car so it would be a spare. Ultimately they will be using this HBB in my primary car when they outgrow the convertible.
Safety is a concern so I am considering harness HBB only. Secondly weight of the seat is important because it may be switched between cars. Third, I need a narrower seat because I put them side by side, allowing a passenger to sit in the rear, and also allowing access to the 3rd row. It would be used in a Acura MDX or BMW X3. My primary car is a Honda Pilot. Being the X3 is the smallest of the cars, only a narrow seat would allow someone to sit comfortable next to the 2 car seats.
Hope someone can offer suggestions and input.
Thanks for your help!

Hello and welcome! :) To help you in your research, I wanted to let you know that the type of seat that you are looking for is called a combination seat (that is a forward-facing seat with a harness that later becomes a highback booster and then later, on some models, a backless booster). Highback boosters (HBB) are used with the shoulder and lap belt in the vehicle to restrain the kiddo rather than a harness.

My recommendation to research further is the Harmony Defender; it is a narrow combination seat. It is available at Walmart for around $90-100. Other seats that might not be as narrow, but that you may want to look into include the Evenflo SecureKid 300 & 400 and the Evenflo Maestro (which won't last long in booster mode once it's outgrown in harnessed mode but is relatively narrow and inexpensive). :)

Thank you for the suggestions. I have seen the SecureKid 300 and Maestro but haven't seen the Harmony Defender yet. I'm not too crazy about the Maestro. Since this seat will move around between 2 cars, I'm leaning towards the easier install which sounds like the SecureKid would fit this. How is the install for the Defender? I'll try to stop by another Walmart and check it out. I went to one today but they didn't have it.
I need to make the sure fit would be good side by side. Would either one be better for side by side install?

Thanks!

Just giving your thread a bump, so hopefully someone with experience installing these seats can give their opinions. :)
