Question Can a car seat/car seat base go in the center seat of the A4 with the LATCH system?

I have a 2001 A4 that we purchased the LATCH anchors for and installed since the care was made prior to LATCH being required. My husband also has a 2004 A4 that came with LATCH. We currently have bases for an infant seat in the center seat but while I've been researching convertible carseats I have seen information saying that Audi A4's are not designed for center carseats with the LATCH system. Does anyone have any info on this?

Also, we are looking to get convertible car seats for both of the cars. Does anyone have any recommendations for car seats that will fit well rear facing in the Audi A4 whether in the center seat or one of the side seats?

Audi says you can't borrow lower anchors from the outboard position. I have installed snug rides and Britax convertibles with seatbelts over the years.

I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that you cannot install LATCH anchors if they were not installed by the manufacturer?

VW/Audi is a rare exception and has a lower LATCH anchor retrofit for certain models, including the OP's 2001 A4.
