Expedition vs Explorer

DH and I are going in circles trying to decide on our next SUV. Originally I told DH that the Expedition was way too big. But, we saw an Expedition today and it had two captain chairs 2nd row then a third row. So I am now wondering how the Explorer w/3rd row and Expedition compare. We only have 2 children and no more in the future, but I have a daycare and would like to be able to take them all on outings. I don't drive my car (currently an Escape) often so gas wouldn't be an issue. I just love the minivan seating in an SUV. I would like to stick with a Ford. When did the Expeditions begin having captain chairs in 3rd row? How many tether points do each have? What about latch? TIA

If you are going to be transporting more than just your two children on a regular basis then I would definitely get the Expedition. That's the size vehicle I want when we have another baby. As it is our Jeep is super tight with two RF seats, even with two kids I wouldn't mind something bigger. Although, the Explorer is bigger than the Jeep. Still though, for more than two children I would go for the Expedition.

I would go with the Expedition. In June 2006, DH, DD, my adult sister and I went to Chicago we rented an Explorer. We fit, barely. In March '07, DH, DD, myself, an adult friend and her DD (both DD's in Britax's) drove from Indianapolis to Nashville in an Expedition. There was room for the friend between the a RF MA and a RF DC and we had ALOT of stuff crammed in the back. I *loved* driving the Expedition! I told DH it was a good thing one wouldn't fit in our garage or I'd go home and upgrade my Pilot!! HTH. ~Mandi
