Pushing chest clip down and escaping!

So my soon to be 3 year old (RF in a Marathon) has learned how to push the chest clip down and get herself out of the seat. Any advice on how to keep her from doing this? Sometimes it is several miles down the road before she makes known what she has done. I have had several discussions with her her why she shouldn't do this.

Do you have one of those mirrors that goes on the act headrest? Maybe if she knows that you can see her she will be less likely to do it?

If you have a mirror I would check it frequently, especially in the first few minutes of the drive. That way you can correct her every time she starts to fiddle with her chest clip. At nearly three she's should be able to understand what you want. I would have some sort of consequences for disobeying (whatever you're comfortable with) and just be very consistent and very quick to respond. She should get tired of this little game after a while.

I don't remember what age Matthew was when he started doing this, but I put harness covers that I had from an Avenue on the harness under the chest clip. They were stiff and just the right length and also they didn't open so he couldn't remove them. We took them off after the summer and he didn't do it anymore. It probably isn't the greatest thing to do, but it has to be better than getting out of the seat while the car is driving.
