Flying with unoccupied car seats

I don't want this to be a debate about using or not using the car seat on the plane. I want to use the car seats but it's simply not going to happen :( so I need to do my best to get our seats to our destination safely. How should I pack our Coccoro and Keyfit? I don't have the original boxes. I thought either bubble wrapped in a box and checked as luggage or gate checked in some kind of bag. What do you think?

Again, I know my best option is to buy seats for the kids and have them in their car seats on the plane but again, it's just not going to happen on this flight so I need my second best choice.

I'd do either of those. If you buy the padded JJ Cole bag (and use bubble wrap on the seats), you'll almost certainly be able to fit both in that bag. Could make your life a little easier than hauling 2 separate bags/boxes. HTH!

One bag would be AMAZING. Thank you!!!

I would gate check the bag/box so that there is a less likely chance of something happening to it. My SIL checked hers with regular baggage once, and it was lost along the way. After waiting for 2 extra hours after an already long flight, she was finally able to make the claim and get a loaner with unknown history until her could be located and transported to us.

They will put it under the plane at the gate (with the other strollers and oversized carry-ons), then you will pick it up as soon as you disembark the plane. HTH.

Yea I think that's worth it. I'll just make the hubby carry it...
