Hi,

I've heard that the securekid seat is on sale through Best Buy and Future Shop (online)

What do people think of this seat? Pros and Cons, etc

Thanks!

I don't believe I've ever actually seen one in person, although this is what I've gleaned from others who have. I will say that on other Evenflo seats with the SureLatch self-ratcheting connectors (which I also don't see much in my area) I'm not a fan. They can be quite grumpy if the angles don't align nicely, and very little you can do to make them cooperate.

Evenflo SecureKid 300/400

Features:

-~$180-200 at Babies R Us, Sears, Amazon.ca
-top harnessed height of ~18″
-forward-facing harnessed to 65lbs
-use as a booster from 40-100lbs
-expires 8 years from date of manufacture
-300 model has basic UAS connectors; 400 model has premium self-ratcheting SureLatch connectors and extra side-impact protection in the head wings

Pros:
-can use UAS (latch) and top tether in booster mode to keep it from becoming a projectile when not occupied

Cons:
-closely spaced harness is too narrow for some kids and may bother their neck
-overall harness length is shorter so a child may run out of harness room before reaching height or weight limits

I ended up going with the Securekid 400. It will get used at least once a week by a 5 yr. old child with a short torso. Her mom has put her in a booster and she has a terrible fit-shoulder belt is no where a good fit (belt is off her shoulder). I won't put her in that condition in my car, even though her mom knows my safety rules! Anyway, because it won't be used everyday, it's narrow and light, I'm going to keep it and I have other little people in my car who use boosters. I'm giving my Symphony to my neighbour.

The surelatch install was great, very easy. I always hate putting the tether strap in my car. There is a very short distance from the seat to the clip, so I have to really play with it or install one side of the seat, pull strap tight and then place it in.

If anyone in the Vancouver area wants to check out the seat, just pm me :)
