Question Which seats are rear-facing for the longest - updated info?

Hi there,
I see this question's been asked, but I think there must now be new options available? Also, we're in New Zealand where availability seems limited as far as I can see to two types - Radian RXT (which seems a little light on tethering) and Axkids (which seems complicated to insert).

I'd really appreciate some advice on the following:
1. Which models currently rear-face for the longest?
2. Any info on which of these models are easily accessed from NZ (either here, or to import).

Many many thanks!!

Are you looking for a NZ approved seat? If so others can chime in.

Otherwise the seats that RF the longest are Swedish seats, both for height and weight as they RF to 25 kg/55 lbs and till the tops if the ears are aligned with the top of the shell. Carseat.se ships workdwide.

Hi :) where in NZ are you?

I have imported 2 Swedish seats (at different times from carseat.se) and have found them to be (expensive) but fantastic. I had a Radian (the second shipment ever in the country) but sold it as it wasn't getting much use. My ds rf till 4 and my dd will do the same. At the moment she rides in a Britax Hi-Way (Swedish seat) and a Britax Roundabout 55 that I illegally imported from the states :)

I think baby on the move have a good selection, they have the Brio, kid zone, recaros (both US & Swedish), evenflo & diono and they will let you try them out and check to see if they fit in your car :) The Brios can be bought fairly cheaply second hand on trade me, if you're ok with that (I always have been ) :)

Thanks Finn and newyorkDOC,
Great to read your replies, thank you!
We've decided to go with a Swedish seat, the Axkid Kidzone, as it rearfaces for a long time and seems so solid, with all its tethers etc.
We decided the Radian just doesn't seem very solid when placed - e.g. though convenient to fold up - wouldn't this folding feature be a weakness in a crash impact?! We think so.
Anyway - safety of our child is more valuable than cost of this seat and having to buy another once he's 25kg.

Thanks again to you both, and to Matthias (Icarum) for all the awesome advice. And thanks to the website for being here :)
