B-Safe 22lbs vs 30lbs

Anyone know why the B-Safe is only approved at 22 lbs in Canada, but 30lbs in the USA? Is it the same seat? Has it been tested for 30lbs here in Canada at all, or was it and it failed?

TIA :)

To be honest I don't know the official answer but our seats are structurally different than the US in terms of crash test standards - we have bolsters in the front corners of most of our infant/ child seats & the US does not, our seats also have to pass with different size crash test dummies

We also don't have the keyfit30 but we have the 22 .... Kind of annoying in terms of higher weight infant seats :(

I know I find it interesting that the B-Safe is only 22 lbs, its sad because it is a great tall seat, one that would fit a very wide range of kids if it were not for the 22 lb. minimum . My son would have outgrown the B-Safe by weight at 6mos. But probably have had at least 6-8 inches of shell above his head!

The Keyfit being 22lbs seems fine to me, its such a tiny infant seat! I like it but it seems better for it to be a 22 lbs seat as I doubt there are any 30lb kids who would still fit in it.

Agreed! I have long babies and need a tall infant seat and would have definitely considered a B-Safe if it wasn't for that 22lb weight limit!

We finally got the Peg infant seat up to 30lbs here (took a long time though!) so maybe there is hope that Britax will work on it!
