I haven't bought a convertible seat in about 6 years. Back then it seemed the choices were far fewer and if you wanted to ERF, mostly depended on your budget. I just assumed I would get a Britax Marathon because it used to be THE seat to have. I went into Buy Buy Baby and found a plethora of seats that had many of the same features as the Marathon and now I'm even more confused than when I started.
Here are the stats:
-DS is 17 months old and on the small side but not exceptionally small. He's currently in an Evenflo Triumph Advance that is about to expire.
-seat will go in the captain's chair of my '06 T&C and maybe grandparents' cars occasionally
-must be easy to install, that's a big one for me
-must be able to machine wash the cover
-Budget is $200, dh would be thrilled with $150
-Plan to RF until approx 4 yo, harness until 6
-a cupholder would be a bonus.
I really liked the Evenflo Symphony E3, particularly the ratcheting latch connecters. They had a name for them, but I don't recall. What holds me back is that it used to be said that "All in One" seats are generally not that great. We are only planning on using it for a convertible, if it works for a booster, that's great but no big deal if we need to purchase something different.
I also liked the Graco MyRide and My Size but I don't see what the difference between them is.
Is a marathon still a great seat? Is the 70 G3 just a newer model of the regular marathon? What is the difference?
Open to any other seat suggestions as well.
