Question 2005 Honda Pilot 3 across (2 rear-facing)

We are considering buying a 2005 Honda Pilot and are wondering if we can get three car seats across. One is a Diono Radian for our 4 year old and the other two would be Graco SnugRide 32s for newborn twins. We are both tall and are not sure if the seats will fit behind ours comfortably, or if they will fit in side-by-side either as the infant seats are kind of bulky.

PS, we also have a Britax Boulevard but it seems much bigger than the Radian...
Thanks for any help you have!

Welcome to car-seat.org!

Yes, I would say that's very likely. The Radian is a tricky install in the center, that would be my major concern... do you already own it? If not you could probably get away with an alternate seat. The Pilot's second row is very three-across-friendly.

I am trying to recall what I had in there. I know I had a Snugride 35 (which will fit the same a 32) in the middle, but I can't recall what I had behind the driver. Maybe a Monterey, which is a moderately-sized booster. The passenger is a separate portion so it will fit whatever. I am thinking you might have the most success putting the Radian behind the driver and the Snugrides center and passenger, only due to how the Radian installs in the center. Width-wise there will be no issue. Worst case scenario, you could replace your 4yo's seat with a narrowish combination seat (forward-facing harness that later becomes a booster) and hang onto the Radian for when the twins are bigger and are ready to move into rear-facing convertibles.

I hope that helps. (Also please forgive any disjointedness of this post; BabyC decided that 3am was a great time for a party and I am not 100% awake!)

But if the Radian is on the passenger side, are they going to be able to fit two Snugrides on the driver/center?

2005 & 2006 should be the same.

I don't know how helpful this is to you, but I have a 2009 Pilot (so the newer body style) and I have installed a RF Marathon 70 outboard, a Chicco Keyfit 30 on the base RF in the center, and a FF Marathon 70 on the other outboard side before with little difficulty. That's the only 3 across I've done but I had space to do it. Not sure if the Snugride is sized much differently than the Keyfit. I think the Marathon is the same shell (width) as the Boulevard.

Thank you! I do already own the Radian, and also a Britax Boulevard. Do you think the Boulevard would be any easier to install in the center?

I'm glad to hear this could work though. I know I could put the 4 yr old in the 3rd row but I think it would be hard to buckle her. She's not strong enough to buckle the lower part of the harness herself. And, I'd really like to keep the trunk area covered with a cargo cover to contain projectiles (and to keep a double stroller back there) which I don't know would be possible with the 3rd row up.

Me either lol. I feel like they would not fit next to each other on the 60 portion but you could put a Snugride & Radian on the 60, with the other SR on the 40. I was just curious if you felt they would fit better next to each other. I've never needed to try it. :)

ETA: The Boulevard should install fine in the center. I think that if it fits next to the Snugride you will be good to go... If not you could try the Radian outboard. :)
