Hello All,

APologize if this question has been asked before and I couldnt find it.

I am looking to lease a new car (Sedan or Crossover). Most of the times, I will be driving my family of 4 (Self + spouse + 2 daughters- 3 & &). However, I would like to be able to have 1 spare seat available for guest use.

My question: Will a 5 seater (say Mazda CX5 )be able to comfortably accommodate 1 adult , 1 car seat and 1 booster in the rear seat ? OR do I need to look at a a minivan .

Your thoughts / comments are highly appreciated.

My uncle has a CX-5. It's a compact in all honesty, tho very nice.

I don't think you need a minivan, just a modern mid-size vehicle like the Accord. Or something bigger than an Accord, but I think the Accord is on the bigger size for a "mid-size" car. The Camry is smaller inside I believe. It'll still work, but getting an extra inch or three across can make a HUGE difference in comfort.

That depends on your preferences. For 5 years, during which we had our first two children, DH and my only car was a beetle. It suited us perfectly and as a family of 4 we even managed a 10 day road trip (including double stroller) in that car. A lot of people don't know how we managed, but it worked for us and I still drive that car whenever I get the chance (we upgraded to 2 cars and 3 kids, so DH usually drives the beetle) because it's just nicer to drive than my pilot!

We easily do trips in my Mazda3 with a family of 4 if they aren't too long. And now that we don't need strollers, pnp, etc we could possibly do a week without really struggling. But the extra seat is pretty much not there without me doing some adjusting of which seats we're using.

Our other vehicle has a 3rd row and DH and I have talked about going back to something that just seats 5 but there are times having a 3rd row is nice, but it's something we could definitely work around. We'd probably go for a larger mid-size type sedan (like a newer Ford Taurus) if we choose that route in the future.
