Second seat help

Hi everyone! I have a 30 lb 3 yr old riding in a RF Radian 65 and a 42 lb almost 7 yr old riding in a Frontier as their everyday seats. They will be riding 1-2x per week in a 93 Mercedes without locking belts/tethers. I got my older a graco turbo booster. Should I pass the Frontier to my younger and get the older a Monterey as his everyday seat? Or should a get my younger a new everyday seat? I'd love to get a new diono, but my absolute max budget right now is about $140. TRU has their trade-in event still going, but Im not sure what to look at.

Hello! Welcome!

First of all, good for you for keeping your 3yo RF and your almost 7yo harnessed (or is that child boostered?). That's awesome!

I would definitely keep your 3yo RF in the Mercedes, if it is at all possible. Thirty pounds is still rather lightweight, and three years old is rather young. It would be best to keep that child RF if it is at all possible. How close to age four is that child?

Even though your almost 7yo is quite light weight, I would feel fine allowing a 7yo to use a booster, especially one that generally fits lighter kids. The Turbo is probably a very good choice. A harnessed seat would be fabulous, but a booster is probably fine for a neurotypical child of that age as long as he/she stays seated correctly at all times.

A 1993 car should have locking belts, but they may not be the type of locking mechanism to which you are accustomed. I'll let a tech with a LATCH manual and/or extensive knowledge walk you through your seatbelt situation. :)

Thanks for the welcome! :) My younger just turned three, and my 6 year old is still harnessed, although he is extremely excited about finally being able to use a real booster once in a while. :) If I get the younger a new seat (classic marathon just expired), what convertible is suggested given my budget?
