Potential road trip problems

My parents want me and the kids to go to Arizona with them before we move. So three adults, two kids. It's a 2012 Chevy Cruz. We took a test run tonight, and I could *just barely* squeeze my hips between a RF RXT and a FF CA. It wasn't comfortable, at all. Also, the center seating position doesn't have a headrest, so ideally I'd like to sit outboard.

I have available; RXT, Complete Air, MyRide with an unreliable buckle, and I could borrow a classic MA. What would be my most narrow combo? Colton could be RF if I needed to, in the RXT. He wouldn't particularly like it, but we could do it. My dad also said he is willing to buy a budget seat (>$100) if there was a very narrow one that would work.

Thoughts? Experience with a Cruz? I am just having a really hard time picturing how to make this work.

I didn't try the Complete Air center, but it might have worked, I'm not sure.

Sit by a RFing seat. That will work better. I would try FFing Radian, RFing Marathon, then you. If you need another Radian, you know I have some.

I appreciate the offer of a loan, but we won't be on that side of the state before we go.

Speaking of which, I hope this doesn't sound stalkerish.... We should have a meetup sometime. An I'd really like to meet Foonf. Okay, done with the crazy bit, lol.

I will start playing carseats tomorrow. I sold my classic MA to my sister, but she won't mind letting me borrow it, and I know it hasn't been in a wreck.

Well, you can try the CA RFing. And yes, I figured we would meet awhile back, just didn't work.

Well I can one up the stalker-talk because if you and Judi arrange something I'd love to join you!

I think rf marathon and ffing/rfing radian could work too that way you have room on the side.
The marathon in the middle while it has a higher base digs into my shoulders when I sit next to it

I personally would like to have both rearfacing as then the foot well under the seats can be used for extra space for soft stuff like special blankets or pillows stuffed animals and also allows you to see both kids and entertain them. I second the RF Radian and RF Marathon being the narrowest choices.

I have nothing useful to offer as far as seats, but I feel for you riding back there with two car seats! My very narrow brother and I rode in the back of my moms cruze with a RFing radian for 5 minutes across town and swore we would never do it again we were so cramped!

Anyway, I'd try a radian RFing in the center, whatever others suggest outboard on one side and you outboard on the other. Hopefully that would give you a little more room. Have a fun trip!
