Best convertible car seat for newborn through toddler years

My 3yo has a Sunshine Kids (now Diono) Radian XTSL, and I love love love the seat, and the weight limits, and all that. He used a chicco KeyFit until he was 8 months though, so he was never in the Radian as a little tiny baby.

I am pregnant, and need to decide on a seat for the baby. We will not be doing the bucket seat. I just want to buy one convertible seat that will last from newborn - as long as possible.

How are the Dionos for newborns? Do they fit well? I was also kind of considering the Graco MySize 70 since it looks like it may be a snugger fit for a newborn, but Gracos just don't seem as well-made to me as the Dionos.

Any suggestions or experiences with the Dionos and newborns?

They fit newborns from my understanding, but depending on what you drive, fitting it in at the newborn angle may be difficult or even impossible.

Is your 3 year old still rear facing in the radian? If so how much room does he have to grow? You could buy pretty much any convertible for the newborn, since you can always pass the radian down when the baby is bigger and the three year old outgrows it, then buy the 3 year old a harnessed ff/booster seat.

I was kind of thinking the same think VanIsle... which is why I was considering the Graco MySize 70. My 3yo is still RF. He's a little peanut at only 30ish pounds. He will still be RF for awhile.

We have an XTerra, so our back seat space is limited. I will have to get the angle adjuster, and put my 3yo on the passenger side and put the baby in the middle. But I think the shell height on the Graco is also more adjustable than the Radian... which is also a nice feature for our car situation.

But I'm pretty dedicated to the Diono brand :/ If someone tells me that the Dionos fit great for newborns, then I'll ditch the whole Graco idea and buy a 2nd Diono.
