Loading through hatch

Not sure if this goes here but I just saw this recommended on a new van post... For the people who recommend loading through the hatch, do you guys have strollers back there regularly? Is there a trick? I cant envision this gracefully and not dropping a kid? Taking the stroller out every time sounds harsh especially in bad weather.... Am I missing a trick? This would make my third row easier if I can do it (2012 oddy)

I did this in my caravan for ages, and I could leave my maclaren in the trunk and just kneel beside it, but the double had to come out. If it is a toddler, tell them to keep their legs straight and just lift them feet first into the seat. Then climb up on the edge (I am short) of the hatch and lean over the back seat to buckle.

Lol I will practice at home first!! I have a double bob so it takes up a lot of my truck but it's easy when it is just the single maclaren. Easier to get the rear facers in though still having issues getting radian in the center.

I load my boys (2 and 3 years old) through the hatch of my van. I have a huge Graco double stroller back there sometimes and usually I can load over it without taking it out. Personally I think loading kids this way is ridiculously convenient and I couldn't imagine doing it any other way. But, I'm 5'6", 115 lbs, and I work out regularly so it might be easier for me than it is for others. My MIL can't period she just can't no matter how easy I make it for her. I would suggest just trying it and seeing if it works for you. I also recommend putting the kid in feet first facing you and kind of just sliding them over the top of the vehicle seat and into theirs.

I did it for months during our nasty nasty winters. I would toss the kids in the hatch, close the back (not all the way, just lower it enough that it would block the wind) and have them climb over into their seats while I loaded the other two in through one side door. I'd buckle those, then open the back, buckle those kids in the 3rd row, and load the groceries or whatever.

I don't put them into their seats unless they are too little to do it themselves. They think it's a fun game getting to climb into their seats and putting their straps on.

Oh, taking the head rest off the 3rd row where the RF seat was helped a ton too!

I do it sometimes but my girls are skinny and small enough they climb between the seats as I have two RF in the third row and one FF so they just climb up and over and its easy for me to buckle in through the hatch. The Ody is great for this with the dip in the trunk I have an 2010 compared to my venture its way easier my venture killed my back doing that. I also do it with my side by side double baby trend in there which I think would be comparable to the Bob there is room on one side I can still stand.
