An emergency situation came up and I had to transport a 9 yo who's too big for a booster and his 7 yo sister who's just a tad bigger than my 7 yo. I put 9 yo in the small seat so the belt would fit best (plus it had a headrest, was next to my son, and it's super easy to move the backless booster out of the way.) The 7 yo is autistic and I couldn't imagine driving with her loose in the vehicle. First she sat in my dd's radian 80. When we were at idle in front of her home, she undid the chest clip and weedled out the harness from the top. (And yes, I had that harness properly done up.) She begged to sit in my dd's soft parkway, but I told her "no" that she could sit in the soft cow seat. (We then had to go to my home.) She got in the frontier and I did up the harness. Once she got over "not being able to breathe or move a muscle" (despite flailing around and hitting her brother), she calmed down and sat beautifully I don't know how anyone could stand to transport that child in just a seatbelt! Unfortunately, the next ride she took, she probably was in just a seatbelt and she should at least be in a booster to satisfy the law.
