Confusion abounds..

I will be traveling from ATL to San Diego with my 2.5 yr old next week. She has her own seat on the plane and I am trying to decide which seat would be best. We will be in a full size SUV no smaller than a Jeep Grand Cherokee when we get there. We have the Radian XTSL, the MyRide, and the Marathon 70. I am nervous about lugging the seat and my daughter and our stuff all around by myself. Is there a lighter option (like Scenera or something else) I should consider purchasing for the flight? Thanks in advance. You guys are geniuses.

I'm a big fan of turning the Radian into a backpack and carrying it that way. It's heavy, but much less awkward than "regular size/shape" seats, IMO. So that's what I'd do.

The seat should have come with one carry strap, but you'll need a second to make it into a backpack. Hopefully you could get one in time.

I'm a fan of the MA for rentals -- easy to install in most vehicles.

I would take a stroller and bungee the seat to the stroller through the airport, then strap child into seat. Something like a Volo works nicely for that age, and its only 8lbs. You should be able to gate check the stroller.

Take just a backpack for your carryon. So you'd have child, stroller, car seat and wear backpack. You'll be slow through security but just take the family line and you'll be fine.

I 2nd the MA because it's generally easy to install in most vehicles.

However, BE SURE to ask for a seat belt extender when installing the MA on the plane.

Otherwise, you'll be in for a struggle to release the seat belt. The buckle needs to lift up to release and there isn't enough room in the MA's belt path for it do to so.
