We're going to be replacing my husband's 2001 Toyota Camry with a new car later this year. My 2010 Chevy Equinox will remain our family's primary vehicle for long drives and this new car will be primarily for DH to commute. Because we share in daycare dropoff/pickup duties and plan to have another baby at some point during the 3 year lease term, car seat friendliness is an important consideration.
DD is in a RFing Britax Boulevard 70 in both of our cars. Our infant seat is a Chicco Keyfit and we will likely go for Radians as the convertible for our next child, or will move DD into a combination seat and pass the Boulevards down.
We'd prefer a midsize but would consider a compact if there were compelling reasons for a particular model. Good gas mileage is important since his round trip commute is 50 miles. Something like a Mazda5 would potentially be OK, but no minivans and probably no crossovers either unless they get really good highway mileage. No luxury makes, please, and VW is going to be a tough sell based on my previous ownership of a VW.
