Thoughts on Radian/Frountier 85/prosport

We are in need of two new seats and I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions of what to get. We currently have SK Radian RF with AA for DS1 and Britax Boulevard (old versoin) for DS2. DS1 is 36lbs, seated height is 15.5 inches, 3 years old 90% for height, 75% weight. He rides RF in the Radian primarily, but FF in Boulevard in the spare car. Our “plan” was to keep him RF until 3, which we have done. DF would like him FF sooner than later. DS2 is 12 months and 25% for height and weight. We will be moving him out of his KeyFit30 any day now and into the Boulevard. We currently drive a 2006 Vue and a 1993 Toyota Corolla as a spare car(retro-fitted with top tether). Seats in the Corolla will need to be installed using a locking clip unless the car seat has a lock off.

We are thinking of getting one combination harness/booster seat for sure, possibly two and just move DS1 FF full time. We were looking at a Britax Frontier85, nautilus, or ProSport. We were debating getting 1 combination seat and a Radian or two combination seats. We do plan of having more kids in the future, so a 3 across install may be in store down the road which is why I am contemplating a second Radian. The fit of the car seat as a booster is not much of an issue as the seat will be most likely handed down to another child and we will purchase boosters when that time comes.

So, would you go with 2 FF seats for DS1 and use the current Radian and Boulevard for DS2? Which two seats would you get and why? Or would you go with 1 FF seat (which one) and another radian?
Thank you for your help!

I think any of those would be good choices. The Radian has the same top harness slots as the Nautilus and the ProSport, so it's going to last the same amount of time, however the booster function is pretty useless. But, it does have an 8 year expiration so theoretically if you have another child in the next 2 years or so, even your unborn #3 could possibly get to booster maturity.

The Frontier has 2" higher top slots than any of the other seats, so it's going to last the longest in harnessed mode, which can be a plus in a tight 3-across scenario since it's easier to buckle a harness than it is a booster. BUT, the Frontier, Nautilus, and Prosport are all pretty wide and you're going to need to pair them with narrow seats like Radians to work a 3-across.

Personally, I've used all of them with the exception of the ProSport and I like the Frontier the best just from an ease of use standpoint, but they're all great seats. The Evenflo SecureKid and Evenflo Maestro are two other good ones if you want a less expensive seat for your backup car.

You might also consider a First Years True Fit for the Corolla, it has the same 18" top slots that the Nautilus and Radian have, but it has a lockoff so you wouldn't have to use a locking clip.
