Question Help for a friend in the UK

I have a good friend who moved to the UK last year. She is looking for a new car seat for her 3.5 year old daughter. Are there any seats that harness past 18kg??? I'd just like to have some options to show her.

Thanks

Hmmm - no, not really.

The Britax Multitech is rearfacing to 25kg, but ff only 18kg. The only ff harnessed seat to 25kg is the Britax TwoWay.

Diono want to release an 25kg harnessed seat sometime this year.

As previous posters have said the only regular seat to harness up to 25 kg here in the UK is the Britax 2-Way Elite.

However depending on the needs of the child and the vehicle in which the seats will be used, there are some other options but these do fall into the 'special needs seats' category. The Britax Traveller Plus Si harnesses to 36kg and although technically a special needs seat, it can be used as an extended harnessing seat. Additionally the Britax Junior Traveller harnesses to 25kg but again is a special needs seat. The Britax Junior Traveller has been recently discontinued but there may be stock at some Britax dealers.

If special support is required then Crelling Harnesses are worth looking into, although all models require use of the vehicle seat belt. The customer service at Crelling is superb and you can get "demo harnesses" for up to 2 weeks.

If your friend lives within feasible driving distance of Milton Keynes, I recommend getting in touch with the In Car Safety Centre. The have a showroom with a wide range of seats, many of which cannot be tried or looked at elsewhere in the country.

I hope that helps.

Why does ahe want a forward facing seat that harnesses past 18 kg? No safety benefits have been found on this side of the pond.

Because her daughter isn't even close to 4 years of age and is almost 18kg. And no offense but I don't think children under 4 at minimum belong in a booster.

Thank you everyone else :)

The only seat to harness forward facing is the TWE. If she's willing to RF then I believe there are other Swedish seats that harness to 25kg.

If money is an issue and she's not too worried about the legalities of it, I'd consider importing the US nautilus since the European version only harnesses to 18kg.

I know the TWE is available at some B&M stores in the UK but she can also order directly from Sweden as all European seats are approved across Europe.
