Top tether anchors in an 03' Trailblazer

We just purchased an 03' Trailblazer LT and I cannot find a place to tether the carseats! We have both boys in the second row.

I can see where you tether for the 3rd row, but not the second!

Can anyone help?

Also, does anyone have any tips on an easier way to use latch with the big Britax "nice" latch connectors? I can get the old style (on an AOE) latch clips to hook on, but not the thick britax "nice" ones. It's almost like the latch anchors are too deep in the seat. We just got rid of our husky and moved DS1 to the new Regent and got a MA for the "baby" (he's in an AOE until the MA gets here). I was out in 100 degree weather this afternoon trying to get the stinkin' latch connectors to work. I could get the left side on, but not the right! I spent 30min and then gave up and used LBP with the Regent. I was able to install the AOE with latch, no problem.

Did it come with the car manual? It should say in there where the tether anchors are. I'm not sure if it has them, though - I forget how many they're required to have and by what year they're required to have them! If you don't have the manual, try doing a search online - I found a Ford manual that way.

The LATCH anchors in my mom's car are really deep, too, and I've had to work to get the Marathon installed there. Like you, one side is a lot easier than the other! What I did was I hooked the hardest one first, so I had more room to work with. I stuck my fingers into the bight and found the hook with one hand, then guided the LATCH connector in with my other hand. I found that getting the angle right was really important, too. I kept trying to come at it from about a 45 degree angle, but it needed to be almost parallel with the bottom of the seat to work. And every time, once I got it, it just slid right in and I'd be wondering what I did that time that worked LOL!

It did come with a manual, but in the manual it only shows it with the second row seat (no third row) so obviously, if there was only the 2nd row the tether would anchor on the tie-downs behind the seats. With a 3rd row up, what am I suppose to do? I wonder if I can get them installed?

Another poster recently had the same sort of question about her Trailblazer but I don't recall the exact model year. I believe she found her top tether anchors were located on the lower edge of the second row seatback. Maybe that's where your Trailblazer's tether anchors are located for the second row as well?

There are entries in the LATCH manual for a two row '03 Trailblazer and an extended model '03 Trailblazer with the third row. For the two row model, there are supposed to be top tether anchors for each second row seating position on the floor near the seat - they're triangular tie cargo tie downs nearest to the seat, not the ones at the liftgate. For the '03 model with three rows like yours, all the LATCH manual says is that there are top tether anchors for each second row seating position and none in the third row, without a description of where the top tether anchors are actually situated (and no option to have more tether anchors retrofitted for the third row, sorry).

Hope this helps a bit. :)
