Question 3 yr old boy car seat problems

We have a 3 year old boy who is turning 4 at the end of May. He is 35 lbs and maybe 37 inches tall. For the past few weeks he has been super whinney and hesitate to ride in his Evenflo Symphony. It is the older model bought in 2008. I know that we can't go a good fit on him in the seat. He complains that the straps around neck and crotch/legs hurt him. We tried the Cosco brand booster from Walmart and although he is a little bit better he says its not comfortable either and that he doesn't like it. Any suggestions. We have a 2006 Toyota Sienna

Are you wanting a booster or another carseat? DS1 is 4.5, 42 inches and about 38 lbs. He's been in a Graco Nautilus for quite some time and he LOVES it. . . . super comfy for him.

Evenflo Maestro, Graco Nautilus, Britax Frontier. Those are the ones I'd be considering.

Skip the Cosco brand seat. It likely has low top slots, and it will not convert to a well-fitting booster.

The 3 above mentioned seats all have 18"+ top slots for harnessed use, and make well fitting boosters; the Maestro lasting the least amount of time as a booster, the Nautilus and Frontier lasting a good long time; the Nautilus also converts to a backless booster. Really just dependson your budget.
