booster / harness argument

The NHTSA recommends harnessing through age 7 if the child still fits in their harnessed seat. What makes the subject questionable is when you have seats like the Frontier harnessing to 20" torso and 85 pounds.

How old is the 45# child? I agree that a booster would be a very safe choice for a typical 7yo 45# child. A 3yo 45# child needs to be harnessed.

I don't think saying a harnessed kid who doesn't want to be there will escape helps your point. A harness is much harder to escape from than a 3 point seat belt. It is one of the big reasons not to booster a 4yo they can just decide on a whim they don't feel like being buckled up and unbuckle.

True, I agree but that was how my DD behaved so I threw it out there:)

It's not a particularly strong argument, though. If a parent told me that her child was trying to escape a harness, I'd say that child is NOT ready for a booster, regardless of age or size.
