Confirm my suspicions?

That this is a combo seat and I wouldn't be able to turn it RF when this little guy is with me all weekend.

I cannot drive him or ride in the other person's vehicle if he's FF. I've talked to this person about RF before. I will be a nervous wreck.

Yeah I think it looks like a fairly old Cosco combo seat. They haven't used that puzzle buckle in quite some time. An AOE that my now almost 12 year old used had one.

Quite possibly. I can't say for sure though. I'm pretty sure when that seat was crashed, the one I replaced it with had a regular buckle. I'm thinking that may have been in 2004.

Plus it has a 34" minimum for FFing.

I will get my hands on the seat tomorrow. I will buy him a new Scenera if I have to (dad just got laid off). But I'm not letting him ride in an expired seat. Luckily, I have my spare Scenera this weekend, so he's going in it while he's with me (or the Britax since its black. The Scenera is pink. I could see dad fussing about that. Actually, the whole thing will be a fuss).
