Car seats, disney, and Magical Express.

We will be traveling soon to Disney with the family. My little guy is 26 months & 31#. We will be taking a whole bunch of different forms of transportation. I'm most worried about the drive from the airport to our resort via Disney's Magical Express. From what I can gather this is outsourced to a general transportation company.

Will they allow me to install my seat on the bus? I read somewhere that buses and cabs are exempt from car seat laws in Florida, is that true?

Does anyone know if cabs in the Orlando area have seats available?

This whole transportation part of my trip has me freaking out!!

Thanks in advance!!

There are no seatbelts on the busses, so you will be unable to install the seat. For my daughter, who went at 2, 3, and 4, I just put her on the outboard seat, and me on the aisle. Busses are designed to compartmentalize, and the ME ones do have high, soft seat backs. Wasn't my favorite arrangement, but I felt she was probably equally safe to traveling in a rental car with a carseat, while I tried to find my way around. :)
The resort busses are LESS safe, IMO, so that's something to keep in mind. They are not compartmentalized, they have short, hard, forward, backward, and sideways seats, and often standing room only. So, if that's going to worry you, rent a car.
FWIW, I take the busses. I just try to find a forward or backward seat and put DD outboard, so she can't be catapulted up the aisle. :)

I did the same thing a few months ago. DS3 was 2.5 and we didn't take a seat for him because we used Disney transportation the entire time (and the ME from the airport to the Disney hotel).

Did you take a cab at all?

I didn't. We drove to the airport at home and left our seats in the car there. We took the Magical Express bus from the Orlando Airport to the Disney hotel. At Disney, we took the Disney transportation (bus and monorail).

We took quite a few cabs there over the years. Some have seats, but no way would I trust them. Every seat that I saw was tossed in the trunk or the back of the van, some had missing pieces, all had twisted straps and were n.a.s.t.y, and no idea of there history.
