How terrible! My prayers are with the family:( I remember DD1 unbuckling her RNXTSL and I didn't know about it until later on during the ride. I had already went to the bank. I was mortified to know that I had been riding around w/ her in the carseat unsecured:(

I meant to add that I posted this to remind people to check their seats. Of course we secure them, but STUFF HAPPPENS. 3 or 4 times mine came undone. Kids push things, etc. Double-check!!!

Unlicensed driver, unbuckled mother, bald tires... sounds like this family was in the habit of making poor driving decisions. My guess is that the seat not being buckled in wasn't just an "oh crap I can't believe it came undone and I didn't notice" moment. :(

But yes, that can happen to any of us, even those of us who are safety-conscious. It's happened to me. Thankfully it wasn't the day we wrecked.

Someone is going to take this wrong but I am still going to share it.
After reading the article and listing out all the corners they'd cut... it actually crossed my mind that for once it was a family effected that had multiples times over been given the chance to correct their fatal errors... Bald tires, could've been replaced, traction would've improved. Securing child seat, wouldn't have been ejected. Valid driver's license, better odds that the driver would understand road conditions. Restrained mother, more likely the child would've been properly restrained.
I understand why this happened to them. Most of the time I don't understand why it happens to those it happens to (KQ and family is my best example).

I can understand the bald tires part but not the rest, right now i have 2 bald tires but cant come up with even 50 bucks to go get some used ones, but we would have had it this week or last but we had to move unexpectly and all of our savings and everything went out the window....but i do check everything else and my seatbelt is always on,
