Several years ago I bought a wooden toy at a German American kriskindlemart. They've since changed the market (they have it crowded into one little space when it use to take up several blocks) and last time I went I was unable to locate the toy vendor
Anyway, if I am remembering correctly the toy I bought was a dolphin shaped in a sort of circle. The dolphing was flat, painted wood. Two wooden dowels stuck out from either side, sort of making the wood like a wheel. Attached to the dowels was a string that formed a half loop.
What you did was hung the dolphin spinner from the ceiling, like a mobile. You would then wind up the string around the dowels like a yo yo, and the when you let go the dolphin would spin and bob up and down. I have never, ever seen anything like it and google is not being helpful. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
