Question for those that Cert. Techs.

Where and how did you get your certification? I'd like to get car seat safety certified, especially since I'm going back to work for Babies R Us & I'd like to be able to tell parents I assist that I'm certified so that they'll feel more comfortable w/ the info I provide them. It's amazing the false sense of trust new parents get from the BRU purple shirt, but I'd like them to know their info is coming from someone who really knows.

I'm Phoenix, AZ if that helps/

TY.

I just took the new course from the 19-22 this month and it was four days long. We went from 9-5 every day and I asked for a certificate for training purposes (for family child care, can't use them all but they help) and I got 28 hours. Check the website posted above for classes in your area.

What did the class cost you?

I just sat one a few weeks ago in Hawaii - I'm from New Zealand LOL so it was a bit of a trek. Course itself cost me $60 and some of them charge a local fee (mine didn't).

The class was $60 plus $65 in local fees that paid for catered lunch every day. Our class was held at a fire station in the middle of nowhere so if we hadn't catered there really wouldn't have been anywhere to go and everyone would have had to brown bag it. We did have good eats all week! :)

Class costs vary by location. In Los Angeles, they can be as much as $1500, but just an hour north in Ventura they are about $160 for the 4 day class plus one day car seat check. Some locations have subsidized training costs from the local SafeKids organization.

Check the following link for class registration and costs: http://www.safekids.org/certification/.
