Okay, so we'll be leaving city life next year and for the first time we'll need a second car. We plan on keeping the beetle as my husband's commuter car and I get to pick whatever I want heehee! I've been looking but am wondering if I'm missing anything. We have two kids and plan to have at least one more, haven't entirely ruled out the possibility of a fourth, although it's unlikely.

We want:
Must seat 5, would love extra "jump" seats to seat 6 or 7 for carpooling, friends coming over, family visiting purposes

Decent storage with all 5 of us in the car. After 4 years of a beetle as a family car I want decent trunk space!

Decent gas mileage as we try to be as green as possible (thus driving a beetle as a family of 4!).

Wagon or SUV, not a sedan, because I don't want the limited height of a sedan trunk with bikes and such.

What I would love is the mazda 5 or Rav4 to fit 3 across or the kia rondo to be available newer. Or for volvo to still offer the back jumpseats in the V70. Is there another option in this category or will we have to go up. I really like the look of the pilot if we have to go up, and love that it has lots of tether anchors, but it looks soooo big (aside from the beetle I've had a mid-90s civic coupe and a mid-80s toyota tercel, so the beetle is the largest car I've ever driven!!!!). Is it hard to drive such a big car?

We're thinking our budget will be $15K, $20 at absolute most. We realize we likely won't be able to buy new given that. So, what would you recommend? Any major contenders we're missing?

Thanks!!!

I drive a 2009 Sienna and I'm only 5'1 - it doesn't feel big at all.

I don't feel safe in little cars, I like big ones.

Ours seats 7 and I love it!!!
