Car seat laws for NYS

I was wondering where I could find them. My BIL's ex just called me because my 7 year old neice had her last day of school today and asked if she could spend her summer with my daughter (16.5 months) and I instead of a babysitter. To the best of my knowledge she *might* be in a backless booster, but I'm really not sure. She is VERY tall and extremely mature, so I know that part is not an issue. Anyway, I just wanted to make sure that I am following the laws.

Where can I find them?

However, legislation does not reflect the laws of physics -- many 12 year olds still need boosters.... Heck, *I* need a booster in certain vehicles!

My website is full of useful booster info & I am in upstate NY :)
