A friend just messaged me on FB with a question about her 21moth old dd. She gave permission to share here.
What do you suggest for someone whos kids gets sick rear facing. We're having major trouble with Zoe. She has always hated and screamed in her car seat but now that shes older its getting worse and worse. She will scream and squrim until the straps have worn her skin raw. She will scream until she gets sick. We've tried singing, reading, special car seat snacks, ive spent many hours leaned over the seat nursing and nothing is calming her anymore. I am a huge advocate for not letting a baby cry it out but that is whats happening. She has started saying she is scared and sad when we talk about the car and car seat. We've also noticed that her whole personality has changed she freaks out everytime someone gets their shoes on and she knows she has to get in her seat. Allen put her forward facing and she is not just fine but actaully likes getting in. Im having major guilt about this but I dontknow what to do. It feels like no matter how much safer it is her emotional well being is being compromised. IT doesnt matter if we are going for a 2 min drive or a 2 hour drive ( which we dont even do anymore, we will not even attempt to take her into abby) She screams until she is about to pass out. I think I know what i have to do but for someone who is very much for extended rear facing this is a really really hard decision. Thanks
