So every couple of weeks, I need a break from work and since the store is only 10 minutes away, I go visit the car seat section and visit the Regent (something only you guys would understand) on my lunch hour.
So today, there are actually TWO people working in the car seat section! Very unusual. You can almost never find anyone to help you with car seats in that store. I'm a little excited about this. So I'm looking at the Regent and they both come over and ask if I need help. I said I was just looking at it and asked if they've sold many. Are you ready for the answer I get - are you really ready for this - get ready - this is insane - "No, we usually steer people away from that seat. It's way too big to fit in most cars unless you drive like a Suburban or something like that and it's just not worth the money. It's the most expensive booster seat we have and there are a lot of other ones that are just as good, like this one (as she points to the TB).". I tell her that that is DOES fit in LOTS of cars, including small ones and it's NOT just a booster. I said "look at it. Does is even LOOK like the other boosters? You should be pushing this seat. It keeps kids harnessed to 80 pounds". So the other moron says "well, it's still just a fancy booster. When your kid is like 4, it doesn't really matter if they use the double straps (nice, terminology, huh?) or the seatbelt.". I argued that it absolutely does matter and that the harness is much safer. I said that the Regent is also especially great for younger kids who are on the bigger side and really need to be harnessed longer. Moron #2 tells me that age doesn't matter. It's all about size of the child. So the girl moron must have actually been thinking and finally realized that it does not in fact look like the other boosters. She says so, but then says "but I guess it really is just a booster or they would have put in the aisle over there, not back here with the booster seats".
I had to walk away at that point. Here this great seat is FINALLY available in a store and the stupid sales people are telling people NOT to buy it. Maybe if they paid them a commission, they'd push the Britax seats over the Graco's (and I only say Britax specifically because they don't carry anything else like Recaro's, Radian's etc.)
