Anyone outgrow a Radian FF with 15.5 torso?

Kind of an involved Radian question...about slippage. The seat clearly fits him, but it also slips. And that's my concern.

My son turned 5 and is 45 inches and 46 lbs. with a 15.5 torso.

Could he be outgrowing the Radian XTSL FF? Note the headwings don't interfere at all with his shoulders.

I push the headwings up all the way but they slip, so yesterday it appeared the straps were below his shoulders. Then I push them up and the straps are clearly above his shoulders. He has perhaps a year or more. (And I want the straps above, yes).

So, what is the real harness height of this seat? With slippage would he truly be Frontier85 bound already? 15.5 torso doesn't seem so big.

(SK said I could tighten the bolts to prevent slippage, but it's a seat that's being handed down, so I'm not sure if I can simply untighten and expect it to function normally again for a toddler.)

If the head wings are slipping, either the bolts are loose or you have defective head wings. I had defective ones on mine, and sk replaced them. I can explain more later when I'm not on my phone.

Thighten the bolts, and if that solves the problem then they'll function fine for a smaller child. If it doesn't solve the problem, call sk.

I tightened them but there is about an inch (slightly more) gap in back of slippage.

There is no way they'll stay up without that inch there.

Ok, it sounds like you need to call SK back and explain to them.

Are you pushing the head wings up absolutely as high as they can go, and then having them slip back down into the next notch down, thereby pressing on the harness? That's what I was doing. What I found out is that the high-up-as-they-can-go position is NOT where it's supposed to be. My head wings had an extra lip of EPS foam at the bottom of them which was pressing on the harness when they were in the actual top notch. So I thought they weren't staying up in the top position, when in fact they were in the top position but due to a defect in the wings they were still pressing on the harness in that position.

I never noticed the problem until I started using that top harness position. After talking to SKJP, they sent me new head wings. I wish I'd taken pictures, but once I got the new ones the defect and the problem became really obvious.

Here is where they slip too.
All the time.
It's making me nuts, lol.

This is as high as they will go and stay. So I need to know if this is normal. And if not, what to do.

SK did say they are supposed to slip 3/16" and will not stay in the very, very top.
I jam my thumbs in there and put them ALL the way up, but there is over an inch gap. Isn't this too much? My kid needs the harness height.

I'd call them back. But since they technically say the straps are ok below the shoulder they may say its not a big deal. I regret getting the XTSL now. I wish I would have got an 80sl.

They said the headrest should not affect the harness height.
Headrests are not the problem for me. He has plenty of clearance there. ( I just don't like how they slip down a whole inch since he might need the room at some point).

Maybe he is 16 inch torso. I had him sit really, really upright and re-measured. And maybe the Radian is only 17 (not 18).
And maybe the fabric is pushing down and making it look like the straps are lower than they really are.

All that could explain why I'm not seeing growing room at all. Maybe.
