Vent hate my car seat situation

sorry if this is long but I am frustrated with my situation. I still have no car. Jocelynn has started school (no school bus) so drop off and pick up is a PAIN. She also spends a day or two a week with her great grandparents on their farm. No one that drops off/ picks up can install my nautilus correctly (or any harness seat for that reason) so when Jocelynn rides with someone other than my dad (who has his own Nautilus in his car that I install and stays in there permanently) my "best" solution has been to put her in the turbo elite that I had around for emergencies. I never felt bad about her riding in it 1-2 times per month but I am starting to have major anxiety over her riding in it home almost everyday. My dad drops her off every morning so atleast she rides in a nautilus half of the day lol. I know that it is safer for her to ride correctly in a booster than incorrectly in a harness seat and since I can't be there in the afternoon when she gets picked up at school it only makes since to send the booster with her instead of the nautilus

another issue is that her grandparents often switch her seat between their cars while she stays with them and they CANNOT install a harness seat right ( I have tried and tried and tried to show them but honestly they don't have the physical ability to get seats in tight enough) I just discovered this recently and now I down even trust to send them with my Nautiolus either way. I was really really really hoping the kiddy world plus would be out soon since it seems so easy to use with the shield and latch. Seems like it would be perfect for them and all my after school needs until Jocelynn hits 40lbs

I guess having a seat left in every car isn't an option?

I WISH!!!! My dad has one in his car but the grandparents can't afford one and my sister won't buy one and I honestly can't afford even a maestro right now. . .but my main problem there is that I don't think they will leave them installed so then I would still be stuck in the same "not correctly installed harness seat" position that has me using the booster anyway. She does sit very well in the booster though I just am NOT comfortable with her in it this often :( Just want to get this car situation taken care of so its no longer an issue, hopefully this is only temp (as in I have my own ride in a month or so )

does she sit properly in the booster?

I totally know how you feel, but I also agree that a properly used booster is better than a harnessed seat that isn't installed properly.

I have the same problem with DH I caught him driving around our 3 year old in a nbb so since ds is four now I let him ride in a pwsg since DH knows how to do that. Not ideal, but better than the nbb or the ca65 not even buckled in arrrg BUT if I'm home I install that ca65 for him... He at least keeps the onside air for my baby installed RF and won't take it out

But I'm saving up for a rstv for DH

Sent from my iPod touch, sorry for any auto-correct typos!

sad day but I don't even think I would trust other people with the RSTV lol NO ONE else seems to understand why I am so upset about my 4 1/2 yr old being in a booster part of the time lol sometimes you just need support from people as "crazy" as you

Teach your daughter how to use the RSTV. I bet she could get it. She can get it on (or help guide the caregivers) and she can show them where the seatbelt needs to go. I really think this is the best answer.

I can't afford a Maestro right now much less a $100+ vest when I already own 3 new car seats(all less than a yr old)

I just didn't foresee these problems and any extra money I get right now is going to the car fund so I won't have to worry about her going back in forth in the booster all the time (I have no problem with her using it on the farm a couple of times a month)

Sorry, I realized that after i posted :( Any chance you could sell one of the seats to fund an RSTV? There is at least 1 in swap right now.

do you think she would even fit well into a RSTV?? She is technically over the weight minimum for the small ones but she is VERY VERY VERY skinny. I am about to update my siggy because she is actually 42in tall and 34 lbs (major growth spurt recently) I thought I have seen that they are supposed to be snug and that a lot of kids don't really fit well into them if they are really skinny

Sofi is 41-42 inches and 35 pounds. She is really skinny right now. I just got one last week, and it fits fine. I can get pics of her in it if you want.

Honestly, for me, at 4 years & 6 months I would be fine with her sitting in a booster, especially if she knows the rules & follows them.

My parents have ds every other weekend & can't install a seat (they try their best) so ds rides in a booster with them & has done since he turned 4. They get it right every time & ds knows how to ride in a booster now :)

I think if I was going to sell something to buy something else, it would be to buy the Parkway with the little Safeguard thing, that sort of makes a 5th point. I know she is below the minimum, this is just my thoughts, not advice.

All in all, though, a 4.5 year old in a booster for shortish trips isn't something that I personally would stress about.

Yeah I am not REALLY worried about it it just makes me a lot more uncomfortable and I "wish" I had another option right now. Basically its not my IDEAL SITUATION. I do plan on buying a parkway SG when she starts boosting full time and I might even try to get one earlier (like a x-mas present) The Turbo was an impulse buy when I bought her Nautilus at BRU lol I LOVE the pattern haha It would not have been my 1st choice as a 1st booster though, it just happened to be lying around when I needed it
