I have a 2003 Durango that we bought second hand and it did not come with the manual. It has the fold down third row and I had assumed when we had bought it that I would be able to put FF car seats or kids in boosters back there if we needed to. As it is now, all three fit across the bench. A friend mentioned that not all SUV 3rd rows are car seat compatible. How do I go about finding out if mine is?

I'd try to get your hands on a manual and see if it has any exclusions.
I just checked the LATCH manual, and it says the 2003 Durango has two tether anchors in the third row (the square anchors in the rear scuff plate). I'd take that as a good sign that carseats are allowed back there.
