Another question (about old combo seats)

I guess I'm feeling chatty today:). I've seen it mentioned here that on some of the old combination seats the top slot were only for booster mode. What the heck was to purpose of those slots then?:scratcheshead: It has just always confused me.

On those seats, the harness was attached to a bar in back that you moved up and down to change harness height. There weren't actually slots to thread the harness through. The bar also changed the headrest height. The top position was to place the headrest in a higher position for booster mode.

The old convertible car seats only allowed the top slot to be used forward-facing. The top slots were the only ones reinforced to withstand the forces in an accident with a child riding forward-facing.

The combination seats (like the Eddie Bauer/Cosco 3 in 1 seats) only allow the top head rest position to be used in booster mode. There really wasn't a top slot for the harness to be used. It creates a lot of confusion because the headrest could be moved up to that top position with the harness, but it wasn't reinforced to hold the harness in an accident.
