switching latch straps

I have a new xtsl coming and I intend to use it. I'm not comfy with super latch. The spot I want to put the seat works better with latch than seatbelt. I have two older style radians with the good latch strap, not being used. Can I just take an old latch strap and use it with the new seat? It goes to 48 pounds, right?

Since that is actually what SKJP was telling people to do (sending them old non SL connectors) then I think it's fine. It's from the same manufacturer and the only difference isnt the seat itself but the actual LATCH connectors, so I dont see why it would matter- as long as you remember that you must stop using LATCH at the old limit (or the limit of your car, which ever is lower).:twocents:

That's what I would have done, but SK won't send out the old ones anymore. I can't see the harm as long as you stop using it at the old weight limit, since the seat itself hasn't changed.

I just wanted to add that I'd also stop using the old strap at the lower RF weight limit too.

Something internal that allowed the weight limits to be upped. That's all I ever recall reading, anyways.

I have the older XT but that latch wasn't useful for me after 40 lbs. so I got the XTSL just for SL. Seatbelt was not great. It's a FF seat and installed great for my son with SL!

When my daughter goes RF in her XTSL I'll of course attempt seatbelt first, then SL if I need to.

I guess sending out old connectors for the XTSL could be a huge risk for the company since someone would probably use it past the limit.
