We just purchased an 08 LE8 a few weeks ago. I've been reading through the manual and I have a question about oil changes. Will the indicator lights on my dash let me know when it's time or do I just do it every 3000 miles or so. IIRC, the manual is a little vague about if all Sienna's have the oil change light or not. Thanks!

My light comes on every 5K (well.... 5K after it was last reset). HTH!

Do you have to reset the light or does changing the oil automatically reset the light?

So, we got the van about 1000 miles ago. I should expect the light to come on in the next 4000 miles, right? And then I'd change the oil? I don't have to go by every 3000, the light will let me know?

Sorry- this is our first vehicle with a system that tells us to change the oil. All our other cars, we went by the sticker the shop put on the car.

It doesn't automatically reset. There's something you have to do that I can't exactly remember, but it's in our manual. Something like pushing down 2 buttons while turning the key to the acc position. A couple of times the shop has forgotten to reset it, and I did it myself.

Do you know for sure when it was last changed? This one time, you may want to just go with 5K from there whether or not the light comes on in case it wasn't reset at the right time.

Oh! That info is in the manual!? I did NOT know that, and will now have to try to reset the light ourselves. It has been on for quite a while, and we have had an oil change recently... guess the shop didn't know how to reset it.

I have a 2005 XLE and the light comes on faithfully "flashing then off" at the 3,000 mile mark.... and then "remains on" at the 5,000 mile mark. I assume its the same no matter what the trim level.

If reset at ever oil change i have found it to be very reliable. It is clearly outlined how to reset the light (eg reset the counting) so that it will come on again in 3k miles.

I really like this feature of my Sienna! :)

So my maint req light flashes when I start the car and then stops. About the same time the other indicator lights all flash. Do you think it means it's in between the 3K and 5K? Or does it flash after the car is started for a bit, then go off? Maybe I should break out my manual again... lol!

I have an '09 Sienna and we only have to get the oil changed every 5000 miles, so defintely check your manual. The maintenence light comes on every 5000 miles for us. I've only taken it to the dealer for the oil change (we got a great deal on the prepaid maintenence plan b/c my BIL works for Toyota), so I've never reset it myself.

If it doesn't remain on any longer then the rest of the lights i would say it's not to the 3k mark yet. If mine is "alerting me".... when i turn the car on it remains flashing for maybe 10 secs then disappears. No other lights flash when it is doing this. :)
