Help! He keeps unbuckling himself

My son is in a MT, and he like unbuckling himself while I am driving. Mostly at lights but sometimes while I'm doing 70mph! I have tried putting velcro there but it makes him cry and he peels it off.

Help what canI do!!!

Other than velcro I'm not much help, mine can unbuckle but we've had luck (so far) with being very very serious about buckling. We buckle in the stuffed animals next to him. He gets to buckle and unbuckle himself when I'm there. He has to give me the go ahead to drive (that's only somewhat successful). He listens from the back for me to buckle myself. I went back to having a mirror, too, because a single projectile beats an unbuckled 2.5 year old.

Someone else on here just posted they called the manufacturer of their seat and got the okay to flip Tue crotch buckle backwards (so the button is against the child) maybe you could call?

The thread is from the last day or two if you want to search it.
