I *think* that seat was actually briefly marketed, and did carry up to 35 lbs (wasn't terribly long though).

I don't know how old it is....

Yep, that is the correct description for that seat. My cousins used the plain Cosco version. It is HUGE and heavy. It has a no rethread harness that is attached to a headrest thing. It was actually pretty nice for the time. It could not be used as a carrier after 22lbs. The problem with them is that they are all almost expired. I think the last they were made was 2002, maybe 2003. The funny thing was they sold it with a travel system and the car seat weighed about as much as the stroller, so the whole thing was just huge and wobbly.

Yep, they exist. They were actually really ahead of their time, and something Cosco managed to be innovative and efficient with. That one actually looks like it's in nice condition, and it's one of the newer ones (when they were first released, they have 3 point harnesses).
I wish they still made them, actually. They're a decent niche seat. High RF weight limit, but without base fairly narrow (more than a convertible, at least) for 3 across. And, of course, it was a boon in NYC and other highly urban areas that rely mostly on public transport.

That one looks really nice to me. I saw one in the thrift store a couple of weeks ago and was checking it out and it has the harness adjustment in the back the way the old aoe's did. I think all cosco/safety 1st infant seats are heavier then other brands so I don't think that one is any heavier then the others.
