Bit of background info, a safety notice issued by Transport CAnada:
http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/childsafety/notices/tp14566P/2007p02/menu.htm
Now, I have to say I'm impressed because
a) Sunshine kids has worked quickly and closely with transport Canada and has redesigned the safestop and is sending the new one to owners next month and there haven't been any injuries or incidents. Big change from how other car seat manufacturers operate...
b) Transport Canada actually acknowledge the safestop has a lot of benefit to occupants under 40lbs. In fact they say the benefits of it outweigh the small risk of increased head excursion & are telling people to keep using it until the replacement arrives.
In my mind this is a really good sign of a company centered on safety. Problems come up with any seat I think. And this is the first car seat Sunshine Kids has had... considering how other manufacturers put off things and basically have to get forced into recalls, I'm pretty impressed with the whole thing.
