Would you booster for 1 car ride??

Okay... so dd has a playdate tomorrow after preschool. Usually I'm the one that has playdates here, and I know I have plenty of seats/built-in carseats to go around. But she's going there.

I'm sure the mom hasn't even thought about a carseat...

She just turned 5 and is only 34ish pounds. She's happily harnessed in my car and will be for a LONG time. But...

1) Not sure if her FR will fit in her friend's car...

2) I don't have an extra harnessed seat... only a booster, so I would need to switch her seat in the morning after I drop her off.

Would you switch the seat? Or let her ride in the booster just this once??

How does she 5 step? Is it possible to drop her off and pick her up? Then you wouldn't have to worry about it.

A 5yo 34# child will not 5-step. Ever.

The question is booster or harness, not booster or nothing. I would not want the first booster ride to be without me.

:yeahthat: Especially in a car with another little friend. DD gets down right silly if she has a friend in the car, thankfully they are both still harnessed so they can be silly and I don't have to be concerned with their safety.

I second this. I always do drop off and pick up so I don't have the extra hassle and worry about the seat. If thats not an option, I would install the FR in the morning.

I'd install the frontier in her car and show her how to buckle it... I would leave it set at the snugness your daughter uses so she has no reason to tighten or loosen it

if this is something that will come up in future, and cause you have other kids for whom this could be an emergency seat, I'd pick up a Maestro
