another Radian question - velcro tabs on the straps

why oh why oh why would they put the scratchy side of the velcro on the straps (right where the childs arms have to rest) and the softer side on the seat sides?

Somehow on the Britax seat we have, it works and doesn't ever seem to touch my ds, but with the Radian it seems more "out there" where it is causing trouble.

My dd is complaining that it hurts when she puts her arms down on them...and I honestly don't blame her. She must have moved her arm too fast in just the right direction yesterday and it left a scratch.

Any ideas for how to cover up the velcro?

try getting some felt and cut it the same size. not all felt is created equal so you may have to play with which one will stick.

This is going to sound strange, but it could work to use plain soft netting that has small meshes, such as what you would use for mosquito protection. Just cut them to be the same size as the velcro tabs.

Trust me, they'll stick without anything else. I used window screen 'kits' in Germany that were made up of nylon mesh & thin strips of the rough/hard side of velcro. The velcro had sticky back that stuck to the window frame's outline. I'd cut the mesh to window opening size and just press it on the velcro. Easy & quick, especially to clean. But the plastic velcro couldn't be felt through the thin mesh.

hth & good luck :)
