I finally got around to emailing Mazda and am not thrilled with the answer, but :shrug-shoulders: better to know.
----------------------------------------------
On page 2-29 of my manual, it states:
"1. If the seat in which you install a child-restraint system has a seat slide function, slide the seat as far back as possible."
Is this a necessary or required step for safety reasons, or a suggestion for easier installation and use? I have a forward-facing child-restraint in the second row and need to increase the useable space for third row passengers.
Thank you for your help.

Thank you for contacting Mazda. In our owner’s manual under the child restraint section 2-29 it states that you should slide the seat to its full back position for safety reasons. It is advised to ensure the safety of the child’s seat and for the security of the safety belt.
