A question about boosters

My odd is 5 years old and is roughly 35lbs and 40" or so. She is currently in an ETA and I'm beginning to research the next step, though she does still have awhile before she outgrows her current seat. I don't know when it expires, but I bought it brand new when she was somewhere between 18 and 24 months old.

We looked at carseats at Target the other day and it just seems like the belt positioning boosters are really flimsy compared to convertible seats or boosters with a harness option. I tried two bpb, a graco turbo booster and another one I can't recall the name of.

If used correctly, are the belt positioning boosters just as safe as the others?

Yes, the primary purpose of a belt-positioning booster is to position the belts correctly. If it does this, it's fine.

this link illustrates how the seat belt should be positioned with a booster. High back boosters are best for younger booster riders b/c they provide some side impact protection and usually position the shoulder belt better than a backless on younger booster riders. Also if your LO still falls asleep on long car rides, the high back reduces the 'flopping' of a sleeping boostered child.
