Graco MyRide65 Canadian -- not fitting in car well RFing

We recently purchased the Graco MyRide 65 and I'm having a spot of trouble installing it in a 2001 Subaru station wagon (a hand me down from my MIL).

When I install it RFing, I use LATCH and tighten the belt as much as possible while pushing down on the seat, but the seat still wiggles in back. The front of the seat is snug against the seat of the car, but I usually use Britax which gives no wiggle room at all. This seat seems to wiggle in back, like when you test it it really moves at the back of the seat but the front doesn't.

I checked a video by Graco on You Tube showing the proper RF installation and they talked about making sure the front of the seat was nice and tight, but they didn't mention the back. Of course I'm also used to using a top tether with my Britax when rear facing (anchoring it to the floor) and with this Graco they say not to use the top tether unless you're FFing.

Has anyone had a similar experience with this seat? Is this the proper way to install it?

Thanks so much:)

BTW, I can not find a car seat inspection station in Quebec (Montreal area). In Texas (where I am from) we always went to the one at a nearby hospital to have our installs checked. It was nice and convenient.

Hi and welcome!

When checking for movement with a rear facing seat you only need test it at the belt path, not at the back of the seat. It should move no more than an 1". So if that is the case then you are good to go. If you want to post a picture we can help you take a look at the install.

And you can not tether the MyRide rear facing. Only the Britax convertibles and the Radian allow this.

I just wanted to elaborate a little for clarity - the top/back of your seat will absolutely move when installed RF. As previously stated, check for movement at the front of the seat (at the belt path). Don't worry about the top.

Ooh thank you Laura, that makes me feel a lot better. I can post a photo later today. I think I may have to put a rolled up towel under the front a bit because the little ball is slightly going out of the green zone. Once I fix that I'll post a picture.

Thanks also Kristine for the link!
